NHL comes to agreement

Good news for hockey fans, the NHL is one step closer to hitting the ice.

The league's board of governors has ratified the tentative labor agreement reached on the fifth and sixth of January. The board passed it unanimously, completing one-half of the necessary moves to finalize the agreement.

Now more than 700 NHL players will vote on the deal by this weekend.

"Issues a personal statement of apology to players, partners of league, and most importantly fans. No apology or explanation will erase time missed and hard feelings toward NHL," said Gary Bettman, National Hockey League.

Training camps are expected to open Sunday. The 48-game regular season would open next week.
