Niele Ivey named 2023 ACC Coach of the Year
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Coach Niele Ivey has been named the 2023 ACC Coach of the Year. The announcement comes just days after the Notre Dame women's basketball team was crowned ACC regular season champions.
The 2023 season marks Ivey's third with the Irish.
“I am truly thrilled that Niele is this year’s ACC Coach of the Year,” Associate Head Coach Carol Owens said. “In three short years, Notre Dame has become one of the nation’s elite programs, and it’s a testament to the tireless effort she has put into leading this team. The work she has done with our group through all of the adversity has been absolutely amazing!”
Ivey led the #10 2023 team to a 24-4 overall record in the regular season, a 15-3 mark in the ACC and a regular season ACC title.
Last December, Ivey led the Irish to victories over UConn and Virginia tech, both of whom remain top 10 teams in the AP Poll.
The team's 83-43 win at Pittsburgh and 76-53 win over Georgia Tech, both in February, marks their first time winning back-to-back ACC games by 20+ points since 2019.
Despite a number of significant injuries this season, the Irish brought home the ACC trophy from Louisville on Sunday.
Notre Dame will participate in this weekend's ACC Tournament for the first time since 2019.
