NILES, Mich. -- Niles Citizens for Responsible Zoning held a community discussion to inform residents of data centers and the steps to try to combat against big tech companies.
Many community members expressed that their local government isn't being sufficient enough to stop big tech companies from coming into rural communities. Also, how difficult it is for townships to write their own ordinances without the power to ban data centers.
Guest speaker, Christy Gillenwater, explained to the residents the best way to regulate data centers and keep them out in neighborhoods.
Gillenwater encourages everyone to write a citizen ballot measure and to submit as soon as possible.
