NILES, Mich. -- A Berrien County teen who shot and killed his step grandfather will not get a new trial.
A judge denied Dakotah Eliason's motion Tuesday. Eliason said his attorney Lanny Fisher provided ineffective assistance.
The judge didn't agree and called Eliason's claims "absurd." The teen was only 14 at the time of the murder.
He was tried as an adult and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
