Niles YMCA: Preparing for weather

NILES, Mich. -- The MLK Junior holiday and cold combined for the perfect meeting at the Niles YMCA.

The YMCA teamed up with the Red Cross for a severe weather crash course.

The Red Cross provided attendees with supplies to build their own first aid kits.

Two presentations also informed audience members on how to prepare for cold weather conditions.

"The power goes out, where is that flashlight, where is the matches, I just kind of make sure I put it in one place everybody knows where it is at and that makes a really big difference," said Doris Higgins, Interim Director Niles YMCA.

Participants were also asked to make another emergency kit to give to a friend or family member in the spirit of Dr King.
