NIPSCO repairs early morning gas leak in Bremen Thursday

ABC57

BREMEN, Ind. -- NIPSCO crews responded to the 100 block of Pleasant Court in Bremen Thursday morning after being informed a third-party gas main was struck, causing a leak.

NIPSCO officials were notified around 7:50 a.m. and crews shut the gas off around 9:20 a.m.

Nine customers were affected by the repair process and NIPSCO says crews are working to restore service.

Officials say nearby residents may smell gas odors in the area.

NIPSCO estimates customer re-lights will begin once repairs are done around 3 p.m.

Officials say NIPSCO crews will go door-to-door to affected customers with company-issued identification to conduct the re-light process.

Officials ask if you're waiting for a re-light to leave your front porch light on and move any obstructions away from the furnace and gas appliances for the safety of the workers.
