No need to be alarmed over strange water in Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Mich.-- If you live in Buchanan, your water may be a strange color tonight  because of the barn fire in the area.

The fire department used so much water on Wednesday, and the city said that the water coming out of your faucet may look rusty or even purple.

Officials sent out a notice Wednesday, saying that there was no need to worry, you just have to let your water run for awhile.

J.T. Adkerson with the Buchanan Public Works said, "It's like turning on a water hose when you haven't used it in a long long time, you get that rusty color, it's really cleaning our pipes and we're using a lot of it."

The City does suggest not washing any light-colored laundry, until the water is clear.
