Non-complaint offenders arrested in La Porte County Operation Candy Corn
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Three non-compliant offenders were arrested as part of a sex offender compliancy check dubbed Operation Candy Corn, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office announced.
On October 25, 47-year-old Rodney A. Wood and 27-year-old Zhavaun P. Savado were arrested by the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team.
An arrest warrant was issued for Wood for failure to register and for Savado for failure to register, prior conviction.
Wood was booked into the La Porte County Jail and released the same day after a cash bond was posted on his behalf.
Savado was booked into the jail and remains held there on a $15,005 cash-only bond.
On October 28, 38-year-old Charles D. Mercado was arrested by members of FAST after an arrest warrant was issued for failure to register.
Mercado is being held without bond at the La Porte County Jail.
During Operation Candy Corn, each offender was strongly encouraged not to participate in trick-or-treating.
Operation Candy Corn is a multi-agency, county-wide compliance check of all Sexually Violent Predators (SVP) and Offenders Against Children (OAC).
