North Webster kicks off the Holiday Season with Annual Tree Lighting

NOW: North Webster kicks off the Holiday Season with Annual Tree Lighting

NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. -- Months of planning, dozens of sponsors and plenty of hot chocolate paid off in downtown North Webster, where the community gathered Saturday night for its annual tree-lighting celebration.

Residents packed the streets for the countdown as the town’s Christmas tree lit up, bringing the community together with holiday spirit.

Event chair Nicole Nabinger said the night has become a cherished tradition.

“A lot of people have said it’s like a Hallmark moment, and it’s my favorite,” Nabinger said. “We started planning in August… who wants to think about Christmas in August? But we did.”

Local businesses lined the streets, handing out free treats and setting up activities for families who came out for the festivities.

Celebrity guests—including Santa and the Grinch—also made appearances to greet children and pose for photos.

Local business owner Anne Bell said the event reflects the community’s spirit.

“You want to be part of something very special,” Bell said. “It’s a small community, but the businesses rally around and give support so we can have things like this happen. Anyone’s welcome to come and enjoy the festivities.”

Neighbors also used the event as an opportunity to give back, hosting a food drive and collecting donations for local families heading into the holiday season.

The Christmas tree will remain lit in Downtown North Webster through December.
