Notre Dame accepts invitation to Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame is headed to Orlando for the first time in history for the Champs Sports Bowl.

Notre Dame accepted the invite Sunday. The Fighting Irish (8-4) will face the Seminoles of Florida State (8-4) on December 29th in Citrus Bowl Stadium.

This will be the third bowl appearance for the Irish in the last four seasons and their sixth in the last eight years. This will be the seventh time, and second time in a bowl game, that these two teams will face off. Florida State owns a 4-2 record over the Irish.

The last time these two schools met was in 2003 at Notre Dame Stadium where the Seminoles won 37-0. Florida State also claims the only postseason win over the Irish in the 1996 Orange Bowl, 31-26.

Tickets are now available online or by phone through the Notre Dame Athletics Department Ticket Office.
