South Bend meets Beantown As Notre Dame fans flood the streets
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The 13th seeded Notre Dame men's basketball team defeated the 13th seeded Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament today 84 to 80.
The Irish were down with 1:16 remaining in the second half when ACC Rookie of the Year Markus Burton gave Notre Dame the lead with a go-ahead layup. The Irish sealed the deal with defense, forcing two turnovers, and hitting clutch free throws down the stretch.
Burton finished with 21 points. Braeden Shrewsberry led Notre Dame with 23 points, going five for eight from the behind the third point line.
The Irish play the fifth seed Wake Forest on Wednesday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m.
