ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. –– Unity is a key aspect of any successful football team. It is currently an aspect the United States appears to lack, as made evident by the nationwide protests for racial equality. The Fighting Irish aim to create a unity council that ensures the team is on the same page.
Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly said he hopes actionable items to better the community come out of this new council.
"Essentially a cross section of players from our younger players to our most veteran players that represent the thoughts and ideas of where they want to make an impact. It might start in our locker room, and I hope it does [create] some actionable items that we need to do to be better in all of the things we are talking about," Kelly said.
