SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Notre Dame football is just days away from their 36th playing Stanford in a rivalry game for the Legends Trophy.
The Irish riding a three-game win streak but recently faced a big blow to the defense during practice this week.
Head Coach Marcus Freeman saying today that linebacker Bo Bauer is out for the remainder of the season, due to a knee injury he suffered this week in practice.
Freeman didn’t go into detail on what happened or which knee was injured, but he did mention that this will be a tremendous loss for the team.
Bauer is one of six captains for the Irish, bringing more than his physical ability to the team, the graduate senior also provides an emotional aspect to the game, that drives the defense.
Although Bauer hasn’t started in every game this year, losing him will extend opportunities to guys like sophomore linebacker Prince Kollie, who recorded his first career sack in week five against BYU.
“Bo will be out for the year. Sustained a knee injury in practice on Tuesday which is devastating just because he’s a captain and provides so much more than just production. Just the energy. The ability to motivate our players. It’s going to be tremendous loss. So, he’s out for the year,” Freeman added.
The injury bug hitting the Irish as they get into mid-season form.
