Notre Dame Men's Basketball Coach Farrelly talks team building

Last season was a tough one for the team, and with just 13 wins and 18 losses, they also failed to qualify for the ACC tournament. The newly formed team is still a few months away from tip-off, but they're looking to renew and rebuild - using the summer to practice and bond. 

Associate Head Coach Farrelly had this to say about this year's roster:

"Regardless, if you've had success, haven't had the success you wanted to... I think that's just the way that college basketball is, every year is now starting fresh, you know?

You could have been 30 and 0 last year. You could have been 0 and 30. It's a new identity. So, it's what is that team's identity going to be?

And I think you're going to see that with a lot of college teams this year. And hey, who can who can gel the best?

And whether or not you've had success in the past, you've had we've seen some really good teams that have lost it the next year, you know, and as my old college coach, Coach Martelli, would say, older isn't better, better is better. So how do you get better together doing that, versus just being older? So yeah, is it fresh? Is it good? But you're still driven by what we came to do here."

The first game of the new season for the Irish tips-off in Rome, Italy, against Villanova on November 1.
