Notre Dame Men's Basketball drops 6th straight game
SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Irish extends their losing streak in a 63-58 effort against UNC.
Notre dame not only on a losing streak but the last five have by 6 or less points.
It’s bad enough the Irish only have two wins in the ACC this season, but if you add in the fact that they also haven’t won a game in February, this is starting to become a mental battle.
“It becomes very metal, no question about it. But we, we had our chances,” said Head Coach Mike Brey.
The chance started when the Irish led 27- 19 at half, but the story continues to be the second half.
Allowing UNC to start out on a 15-4 run in the first five minutes.
“Put yourself in position. And let's see if we could close but we haven't been able to and we are in position. That's the thing that's been very, very frustrating,” Brey added
The Tar Heels shot 2-23 from beyond the arc, but it was the 23 offensive rebounds, that led to 23 second chance points. Making things more frustrating for the Irish.
“23 of them 23 offensive rebounds,” Brey mentioned.
Led by Cormac Ryan with 14 points, Notre Dame couldn’t find the bottom of the net down the stretch.
Landing the Irish a 10-18 record with three games remaining on the schedule.
“Just been a hard year, but they come in and keep competing. And I give our seniors credit that they're coming in, and like, we're going to do this again. And I’ve been very matter of fact, with them, I don't have any deep stuff. Other than let's go to Winston- Salem and get in position again,” Brey said.
