Notre Dame prepares for round two of March Madness taking to on Texas Tech
SAN DIEGO, Ca -- The men's basketball team are preparing for a matchup against #3 Texas Tech to advance to the Sweet 16.
March Madness continues for #11 Notre Dame men's basketball, after a win over #6 Alabama, putting the men in a position to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16.
Coach Mike Brey led the team to their second victory in this year's tournament, putting teams on notice, that the Irish are coming.
Coming into the game against Alabama Notre Dame was the underdog sitting at the #11 seed versus a #6 seed.
The 78-64 win ties coach Mike Brey and former Notre Dame Head Coach Digger Phelps, for the most NCAA tournament wins for a Notre Dame men’s basketball head coach in school history.
If that wasn’t enough history for one game, senior guard Cormac Ryan broke his career high in points and three pointers made, with 29 points on 7 three pointers.
I caught with up Ryan's parents after the game and they tell me they're excited about the win.
"I think you know when they play together they are such a gifted team and they’re the nicest guys ever and they, they’re going to do it. They’re going to do it. They deserve it. That’s how I feel yes sir. When they share the ball and play defense they can’t be beat. They here and to be able to be them, it’s just amazing. I would crawl here Yea New York to Dayton, Dayton to San Diego and we want to keep it going to San Francisco," said the parents of Notre Dame senior guard, Mike and Rosemary Ryan.
Notre dame will play Texas Tech tomorrow for that shot at San Francisco and the sweet 16 at 7:10 p.m. ET.
