Notre Dame senior tennis player awarded All-Conference honors
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame senior men’s tennis player Axel Nefve was named First Team All-Conference by the ACC office on Thursday.
The honor is Nefve’s first All-Conference award, and he is the lone player on the Irish roster to earn All-ACC honors this season.
Nefve wrapped up the year as the team’s top player, compiling a 12-7 overall record with a 4-3 finish in the ACC.
During the regular season, he was named ACC Singles Co-Player of the Week for March 8 after upsetting 12th-ranked Andres Martin of Georgia Tech and Ryuhei Azuma of Clemson University. The same week, Nefve moved to doubles with Matthew Che, earning wins over the 22nd-ranked Clemson duo of Azuma and Teodor Guisca.
He also qualified for postseason action, competing in and winning his first-round matchup in the NCAA Singles Championship, before falling to eventual National Champion, Ben Shelton of Florida University.
