Notre Dame shuts out South Florida, moves to 2-0

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Behind three touchdowns from Irish quarterback Ian Book and a few unfamiliar faces, Notre Dame shut-out South Florida, 52-0, at Notre Dame Stadium.

Book had 3 rushing touchdowns in the first half and finished the day with 143 yards passing.

"All those guys up front and they are paving the way for me and I only got to get a yard so I don't want to take credit for those," said the 5th year quarterback.

On Saturday, Book also passed his Offensive Coordinator, Tommy Rees, moving in to third on the all time passing yards list.

This was Notre Dame’s first shutout since doing it last year against Bowling Green.

Brian Kelly now has four shutouts in his coaching career in South Bend.

"Defensively taking away the run, and anytime you shut anybody out in college football is something to really be excited about," said Kelly.

The Irish are 2-0 and now are on the road for the first time in 2020.

Up next: Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, NC.
