Notre Dame struggles to push past Pittsburgh, winning 15-12

 PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Notre Dame narrowly pushed past the Pittsburgh Panthers today, grabbing their second straight win after and 0-2 start to the season.



Today, the Fighting Irish struggle throughout the first three quarters, failing to get any momentum up until the last few minutes of the game when Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees hit tight end Tyler Eifert for a 6-yard touchdown in the last 6 minutes of the game. 


Jonas Gray scored on a 79-yard touchdown run for Notre Dame, tp make up for the Irish's two major turnovers and eight penalties.Rees finished 24 of 41 for 216 yards, but was a perfect 8 for 8 on the game-winning drive.


Tino Sunseri threw for 165 yards and a score for Pitt (2-2), but was sacked twice on the Panthers' final drive to snuff out a late rally.

 


The Irish are back on the road again next weekend. This time, they'll head to West Lafayette to take on the Purdue Boilermakers. Kick off is Saturday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
