SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Through spring practice, summer workouts, and fall camp, Notre Dame football had its sights set on taking another step towards a College Football Playoff berth in 2018.
The first challenge towards achieving that goal came against the Michigan Wolverines, a longtime rival who boasted one of the nation's top defensive units. But in a battle between two Top-15 teams at Notre Dame Stadium, the Irish prevailed with a 24-17 victory to kick-start the season on a high note.
