Notre Dame vs. Stanford, the Irish stay undefeated

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Fighting Irish took on the Stanford Cardinals on Saturday night. 

Two undefeated teams went head to head in a true battle for the win.

First Quarter

The Irish scored first after a 45-yard touchdown run by Dexter Williams.

Stanford’s Bryce Love broke free for a 39-yard touchdown run and the score was tied 7-7 in South Bend.

With just seconds left in the first quarter, a six-yard pass to tight end Nic Weishar gave Notre Dame the second touchdown of the night.  

The score was 7 - 14 in favor of the Irish at the end of the first quarter. 

Second Quarter

Another touchdown pass was caught, this time from Stanford’s wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

Stanford and Notre Dame were tied 14 – 14.

Notre Dame’s Ian Book found Chase Claypool for a 10-yard touchdown pass that was good.

Irish led 14 - 20 and headed into halftime.

Third Quarter

Justin Yoon put the 37-yard field goal through the uprights and the Irish advance to 24 points.

A 46-yard field goal from the Cardinal’s Jet Toner moved them up to 17 with just a couple minutes left in the third quarter.

The Irish and the Cardinals came to the end of the third quarter with still plenty of fight in them. 

The score was 17-24, Irish. 

Fourth Quarter 

Notre Dame tried for a 50 yard field goal attempt that was no good. 

Running back Bryce Love of Stanford was limping off the field after a Notre Dame tackle on his last carry.

Book found wide receiver Miles Boykin for an 8 yard touch down. 

The Irish led with 31 points. 

Touch down Irish with Book finding tight end Alizé Mack 35 yards out. 

The score was 17 - 38, in favor of Notre Dame. 

The Irish ran out the clock and came out victorious against the Cardinals. 

Notre Dame will face off against Virginia Tech next Saturday.
