Notre Dame Women's Basketball advances to Sweet 16
The Notre Dame Women's Basketball team is headed to the Sweet 16 for the sixth straight year.
It comes after the number one seeded Irish defeated the DePaul Blue Demons at Purcell Pavilion Sunday night.
Micaela MaBrey scored 19 points and hit five 3-pointers, while Taya Reimer and Brianna Turner added 14 points each to lead the Irish to a 79-67 win over DePaul.
Sunday night was a stark contrast to the rivals' game in December when the Irish took advantage of poor free-throw shooting by the Blue Demons.
Irish head coach Muffet McGraw spoke after the win.
"I thought Micaela MaBrey had an unbelievable stretch where she hit some threes, had a couple of rebounds. Taya, what an all-American performance by Taya tonight. Those two really carried us in that stretch," said McGraw.
The women will next play the winner of Monday night's game between Stanford and Oklahoma.
