NOW: Notre Dame women’s basketball earn a nine-game win streak with 84-47 win over Western Michigan

SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Irish on nine-game win straight on the back freshman Hannah Hidalgo, earning her first career triple-double.

For 10 games, it's felt like a broken record, continuously acknowledging Hannah Hidalgo. Thursday night was no different after she notched her first triple-double (26 points, 11 rebounds,10 assists), and five steals.

"I'm excited to continue being a broken record about that. I mean, what she's doing is just phenomenal. Just, I mean, not just being a freshman, just a basketball player, you know, her numbers, the way she competes and shows up in her consistency this year. It's just been phenomenal," said head coach Niele Ivey.

Coming into tonight's matchup, according to ESPN, Hidalgo was the fourth freshman in all of division-1 basketball, men and women, to average 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in their first 10 games. She did it in nine games and is the only player to average six steals.

"It's truly a blessing. God has definitely blessed me with this talent. And, you know, I'm just having fun, honestly. But yeah, it's really a blessing to be able to do what I do with the team I love," Hidalgo added.

Per usual this season the Irish were the better in every statistical category.

"Really proud of the entire group. You know, it's been a grind, we've had so much adversity," Ivey mentioned.

But it doesn’t stop there. Even with a 9-1 record, as a top 25 team in the country, the Irish haven’t reached their ceiling.

"I mean, I thought there was a lot of things that we can fix. You could just tell I mean, defensively, we had a lot of defensive lapse, and it's something that we're will fix. It's just, you know, it's always a really hard game going into the holiday break. And so I know that they won't repeat some of the things that happened today," Ivey said.

Ivey also mentioned that the team will be off until Tuesday December 26th. Their next matchup will be their first ACC opponent at Syracuse on December 31st.
