ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Notre Dame women's basketball team traded buckets for boxes on Wednesday for the National Day of Service.
The Notre Dame women's basketball spent the National Day of Service volunteering at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
It is part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's initiative to show how the sport can positively affect local communities around the country.
Last year, Notre Dame was one of more than 100 teams from around the country to participate in this annual event.
They are hoping that number grows this year.
All of the teams will be sharing their volunteer pictures and videos on social media using #wbcadayofservice.
