Notre Dames womens basketball team faces Baylor

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Wednesday night is a repeat of the National Championship game for Notre Dame’s women’s basketball team. Notre Dame last played Baylor in Denver – and Baylor walked away with the title.

The Notre Dame women are as humble and gracious as they come, but they definitely have a chip on their shoulder going into Wednesday night’s game.

All week long head Coach Muffet McGraw has said if a little revenge helps the girls play better and motivates them, then she is all for it.

Everyone will be watching the rematch. They are expecting another sold out arena.

Fans say this is such an important game because it will set the tone for the rest of the season.

Some fans we spoke with say they have nothing but confidence and faith the Fighting Irish women have what it takes to win.

"It's so huge to win tonight. I think it's just a really good sign of what's to come if we win tonight,” said Notre Dame student Emalee Kernisan.

"There's no doubt. I think Notre Dame could win. Stanford beat them, so I am pretty sure Notre Dame can beat them too. If Stanford found a way, Notre Dame can find a way,” said Irish fan Darrin Washington.

It's not going to be easy for the Irish. The team has lost a lot of key players while Baylor has the same team that played in the national championship game.
