He announced a new private partnership made up of 18 businesses and 6 universities. They will focus on developing new energy efficient power electronics.
Over the past four years, the economy has added more than 550,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.
"Manufacturing is a bright spot in this economy," said Obama.
Legislation to help more than a million Americans who are unemployed is currently at a stand-still on the hill.
Wednesday on his tour the President said where he can use his presidential powers to get around a log jammed congress, he will.
