Officer charged with OWI following crash

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- An officer with the Pokagon Tribal Police has been charged with OWI in connection with a crash that happened on March 30.

St. Joseph County Police responded to US 20 east of Rosewood Road after a car crashed into a utility pole.

The driver, 49-year-old James Taylor, was transported via ambulance to the hospital.

A portable breath test at the hospital showed his BAC was .187, according to police.

Officers also obtained a warrant for a blood draw from Taylor.

Taylor was charged on Friday with one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
