MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- After midnight Thursday, an officer with the Mishawaka Police Department discharged their firearm while investigating a reported stabbing, says the Mishawaka PD.
Around midnight Thursday, the Mishawaka PD was dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Gernhart Avenue after reports of a stabbing victim with the suspect still on scene. While there, an officer discharged their firearm.
While the officer reported no injuries, two victims at the scene were transported to the hospital and their condition remains unknown as of 3:11 a.m.
This investigation has been transferred to St. Joseph County Police Department and South Bend Police Department.
According to the Mishawaka PD, this was an isolated incident and there seems to be no further threat to the community at this time.
