Officer pleads guilty to neglect of duty
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Benton Township Police officer Robert Fuller, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of neglect of duty on Thursday.
He was sentenced to a fine of $575.
The investigation into Fuller began because of the use of the Law Enforcement Information Network, according to the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office.
That investigation led to the discovery Fuller left his jurisdiction while on patrol in order to drive by the home of his ex-girlfriend to find out the identity of her new boyfriend, reports said.
Police officers are allowed by statute to leave their jurisdiction for limited reasons.
The Benton Township Police Department said Fuller is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation and disposition of the criminal case.
