Officer and suspect killed at apartment complex in Terre Haute
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – An officer was shot and killed at Garden Quarter apartments in Terre Haute. The suspect was barricaded and had a shootout with SWAT, which resulted in the death of the suspect.
Terre Haute Police Department was dispatched around 6:32 p.m. investigating a homicide.
According to WAWV-TV, the investigation led police to the Garden Quarter apartments on a possible suspect tip.
As the officers entered they were immediately shot at.
An officer was shot and taken to Regional hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Police had the suspect barricaded. One female came out of the apartment and the suspect remained inside.
According to officials, he was inside the apartment and injured. After a shootout with the SWAT team, the suspect died.
Sgt. Joe Watts said they have ISP SWAT, robots, choppers and everything they can do to assist in the situation.
Multiple agencies are on the scene according to WAWV News.
