Officers rescue ducklings from storm drain

Officers with the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety were called to assist two ducklings that fell into a storm drain, according to a Facebook post.

Sergeants Kotecki and Vaught and Captain Kosachuk removed the gate from the drain and rescued the ducklings using a net made out of a baseball cap taped to a hockey stick.

Officers were unable to locate the mother, so a family agreed to care for the ducklings overnight and take them to the Sarrett Nature Center in the morning.
