Officers rescue woman trapped in Osceola fire

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – St. Joseph County Police rescued a woman from a burning home on Saturday.

First responders arrived to the 11700 block of Lincolnway in Osceola around 11 a.m. to a house fire where a woman was trapped inside.

Clara Webb, 93, was bed-ridden and unable to make it outside on her own.

Corporal Chris Boling entered the home using a department-issued gas mask and was able to find Webb’s bedroom.

Boling carried Webb to the front of the house where Corporal Jay Duley was able to help bring her out of the home safely.

“When the news seems to be filled with negative news about police officers, it can be easy to forget that we have a small army of officers out here daily working hard to keep our community safe however they can,” Sheriff Bill Redman said.

Redman nominated both Corporals for Commendations for risking their own lives to save Webb’s.
