Officials believe Bridgman dog-bite was falsely reported

BRIDGMAN, Mich. – A report of a child being attacked by a dog Sunday evening has been forwarded to Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office for a review of a possible charge of Filing a False Police Report.

Bridgman Police were notified of an unidentified woman and her lab-mixed dog walking near Lake and Toth Street.

According to the initial report, a father and young child walked near the woman to pet the dog.

When they departed, the dog allegedly bit the child in the face which required surgery.

Police asked for witnesses to contact officials if they have any information.

Bridgman PD released information Wednesday evening that the investigation led them to believe the location and description of the woman and dog were false.

Callers and tips assisted BPD to find identify, locate, and question the woman.

Police believe the initial report was false and have sent the case to be investigated by the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office.
