One arrested during attempted armed robbery investigation in Lincoln Township

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – One person was arrested during an investigation into an attempted armed robbery that took place on Monday, the Lincoln Township Police Department announced.

At 9:50 p.m., police were called to the 1500 block of Edward Drive for a report of an attempted armed robbery.

The victim, a 73-year-old Stevensville resident, said she came home and parked in her driveway and as she got out of her vehicle, a masked man approached her with a handgun, according to reports.

The man allegedly pointed the gun at her and demanded all her property, reports said.

The victim threw her mail at the suspect and yelled.

The suspect then got into a waiting vehicle that was parked nearby in a drive on Edwards Avenue. That vehicle left the scene, reports said.

Officers obtained suspect and suspect vehicle descriptions and broadcast the information to local police agencies.

Shortly after, a Michigan State trooper located a vehicle that matched the description in the area of Napier and Fairplain Avenues in St. Joseph Township.

That vehicle, a dark-colored Kia Soul, was stopped and the three occupants, a female and two males, said they were delivering for Door Dash.

Investigators determined they had been in the Stevensville area when the robbery took place and after investigating further, a handgun was found in the vehicle, according to reports.

One of the men was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail on felony weapons charges.

This attempted armed robbery investigation remains open.

The victim of the attempted robbery was not physically injured and no property was taken during the incident.
