One dead in Mendon Township crash Friday

MENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- On Friday, Aug. 15, at 1:51 p.m., deputies with the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash in the area of M-60 and M-66 in Mendon Township involving a semi-truck and a county transportation van.

During the investigation, deputies learned the crash came after the transport van's driver ran a stop sign and was hit by the semi traveling east.

When deputies arrived, they found the transport van's driver with life-threatening injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as 36-year-old Beatrice Jones-Taylor, of the Three Rivers area.

At this time, it doesn't appear that alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
