One dead in Marshall County crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – One person has died after a crash along U.S. 6 in Bremen Friday afternoon, the Marshall County Police Department reported.

At 1:32 p.m., police were called to the scene of a fatal crash in the 100 block of U.S. 6 and Dogwood Road.

A Volkswagon Routan Van was on Dogwood Road facing north at the intersection of U.S. 6, when it suddenly pulled out onto U.S. 6 and into the lane of travel of a Ford F350 that was traveling eastbound on U.S. 6, approaching the intersection, reports said.

The Ford was unable to avoid colliding into the Volkswagon and hit the driver’s side/driver’s side front of the Volkswagon, police said.

After the impact, the Volkswagon continued northeast of the intersection and into a yard where it stopped.

The Ford came to rest in a residential yard at the northeast corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Ford reported no injuries at the time.

The driver of the Volkswagon, a South Bend woman, was found unresponsive and not breathing by first responders. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.
