One dead, one critically injured in Prairie Street crash

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A teenager is dead and a man is injured following a three-vehicle crash in South Bend Saturday afternoon, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Prairie and Dubail streets.

Emergency crews pronounced 16-year-old Caroline Dingman dead at the scene.

According to the investigation, Dingman was the passenger in a vehicle driven by Geoffrey Dingman as it traveled through the intersection and hit a second vehicle that was also crossing the intersection.

Dingman’s vehicle then hit another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection.

Geoffrey Dingman was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The other drivers involved suffered minor injuries.
