BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are investigating after one person was killed and another was injured in a shooting near Blossom Acres Wednesday afternoon, the Benton Charter Township Police Department reported.

At 2:43 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Highland Avenue and Plum Court for a shooting report.

Officers on scene were directed to a vehicle where the victims were located.

One victim, an 18-year-old man from Benton Harbor, was pronounced dead shortly after being transported.

A second victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers tried to talk to people who were at the scene and recording at the scene but could not get them to cooperate, according to reports.
