One injured in Elkhart shooting

ELKHART, Ind. -- One person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound following the sound of gunfire on the 400 block of West Indiana Avenue Saturday night.

Elkhart Police say officers were dispatched to the area around 8:43 p.m. regarding the sound of gunshots.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found a 25-year-old victim suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot injury.

The victim was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to EPD, there is no suspect information to be released at this time.
