Preventing gun thefts after SBPD releases new data
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend police officers responded to the intersection of Jefferson and Eddy Streets after reports of a drive-by shooting came in at 8:50 p.m.
The vehicle collided with a tree located at the southeast corner of the intersection.
The driver identified by police as 28 year-old Chanel Neal was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male passenger was transported to the hospital with not life-threatening injuries after suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
There is currently no known suspect at this time.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating this shooting and are urging anyone with information to contact them at 574-235-5009 or Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP.
