One person injured in car versus bicycle accident

CASS COUNTY, Mich -- One person was injured in a car versus bicycle accident on Friday afternoon.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident report just before 4 p.m. on M-40 near Brody Street in Marcellus Township.

A car driven by Cody Breseman, 26, allegedly hit bicyclist James Shannon, 82, while travelling south on M-40.

Shannon was injured and was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

There is no word on Shannon’s condition at this time.

Breseman was not injured in the crash.

Officials said that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Shannon was not wearing a helmet.
