One person injured in structure fire on Moody Avenue

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—One person was injured during a late night structure fire in Elkhart on December 18.

According to the Elkhart Fire Department, firefighters were called to the 500 block of Moody Avenue just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of smoke coming out of a second floor window with people possibly inside.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that all occupants were out of the home and one person was injured.

The victim was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries.

A small fire was found to have started in an upstairs bedroom closet, the fire department said.

The fire was ruled to be accidental.
