One person injured in Wayne Township crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Police were called to a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, May 22, on Marcellus Highway around 1:35 a.m.

Investigation shows that 28-year-old Ashely Smith of Buchanan was driving east on Marcellus Highway, when they tried to avoid a tree in the roadway, hit the tree, and lost control of the vehicle to the left, causing the driver to hit another tree, where the vehicle came to rest. 

That driver was transported to Niles Hospital for minor injuries from the crash. 

The driver was wearing a seatbelt, and drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in this crash.
