One person recovering in hospital after shooting in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- One person is recovering in the hospital following an early morning shooting.

Dozens of officers surrounded the Palacio Tropical Club on West Western Avenue around 3 a.m. Thursday with guns drawn.

Police said a 36-year-old man drove himself to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip.

They searched suspects and questioned witnesses inside the club.

One person  we talked to, who did not want to be named, said she heard a popping noise inside the club, and then ran to another bar nearby.

"I was terrified for our lives. We have kids at home and babies and stuff. We can't come out to a place like this."
