One suspect in custody after fatal shooting on Olive Street
SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Police said one man was fatally shot in the stomach on Olive Street around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Metro Homicide is investigating and one suspect is in custody.
Tyeshun Johnson said, “It hurts and I feel for them but in this day and age, it seems like it’s just life.”
Johnson said after growing up in South Bend he's not shocked that gun violence has entered his neighborhood.
“It’s a natural balance, I know that this world has its ups and downs and this is just a crisis right now. We are in a deep depression.”
Around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, South Bend Police responded to a fatal shooting near a business on Olive Street.
Johnson said, “I could have been walking down that street and got shot. They don’t know where that bullet was going to go.”
Johnson said when he returned from work he found police searching the area near Olive and Linden Avenue.
Rosie Hunt said she's lived in the neighborhood for over 30 years and she feels like the violence has been increasing in the community.
Hunt said, “It’s getting worse, it’s not getting any better.”
