St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit conducted an assault investigation on a home on the 400 block of 6th Street Tuesday evening in Mishawaka.
Investigators say a fight between two family members sent one to the hospital.
They say the victim is now fighting for her life.
Police say the suspect is cooperating and was taken to Metro Homicide headquarters for questioning.
Mishawaka police were first called to the scene just after 5 P.M.
The county stepped in once it became clear this altercation was near-fatal.
“One of the females is in the hospital in extremely critical condition,” said Tim Corbett, Metro Homicide Unit Commander.
Police say the domestic dispute was between a mother and daughter.
