ONLY ON ABC57: An exclusive interview with a woman inside apartment with SWAT suspect

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --   St. Joseph County Police, around 9:30 a.m, along with the US Marshal Task Force, arrived at the 600 Block of Laurel Woods Court to locate a wanted person. Upon arrival, police say they made contact with the man who threatened to shoot law enforcement. The officers retreated and contacted the SBPD's SWAT Team and Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team for assistance.

Police say the suspect, Caleb Ringer, had multiple warrants out for his arrest in Indiana and Michigan. When officers tried to serve him, they say he barricaded himself inside a bathroom.

Janai Davis tells ABC57 that Ringer is her boyfriend, and she was in the bathroom trying to convince him to turn himself in. She says Ringer never had a gun; he just told that to the police to buy them time.
