ELKHART, Ind. -- The brand-new consolidated Elkhart County Courthouse was supposed to open its doors yesterday, but that did not happen.
Contractors say they are still putting the finishing touches on the $94 million dollar complex on U.S. 33, that was originally scheduled to open last fall.
ABC57 confirmed today that a grand opening ceremony is now set for Sept. 5.
The contractors could face what are known as 'liquidated damages', essentially fines for not meeting contractual deadlines.
