Opening statements made in alleged 'underwear bomber' trial

DETROIT, Mich.--The prosecution in the federal trial of the alleged 'underwear bomber,' delivered a 90-minute opening statement.

The defendant is accused of trying to set off a bomb in his underwear while aboard a flight to Detroit in Christmas of 2009. He has chosen to represent himself but is working with an attorney.

Tuesday the judge refused the defense's request to exclude a photo of the defendant's burned genitals from the evidence.
