Opportunity to explore local wetlands

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Elkhart County Parks will host a free opportunity to explore the wetlands of Benton Dam County Park during a guided hike on Thursday.

After meeting at the park’s parking lot, on County Road 31 across the street from Benton Elementary School, attendees will hike to the park’s wetlands.

Everyone will have an opportunity to use nets, which will be provided, to catch macroinvertebrates from the water. Early spring is when the area’s flora and fauna become active again.

The one-hour event will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Anyone interested in this free program can sign up here.
